Patient Information Design & Testing

Transforming patient health communication.

Mawdsley's subsidiary company, Luto, specialises in producing user friendly healthcare communications through good information design and development. These are then tested with real people to make sure the information meets their needs. Such health information, whether on screen or paper, is critical to the success of health services in Europe, the US and beyond.

Luto has steadily grown since they started testing Patient Information Leaflets (PILs) in 2004; they now apply their knowledge to other resources including medical device Instructions for Use (IFU), clinical trials materials and lay summaries for Risk Management Plans.

They work with a range of healthcare and technology companies to improve the effectiveness of their health communications - from small to medium sized businesses to international pharmaceutical and medical device companies. Luto also contract their services and share their research with government organisations, regulators, industry trade bodies and charities. All work is conducted under Luto’s ISO 9001 Quality System.

Since its beginning, Luto has had strong links with academia and looks to reflect the latest insights from research in the work it undertakes with clients. This strong and interactive link with globally recognised experts in the field of communications research and unique testing methodologies allows Luto to successfully transfer knowledge from academia to industry.
